Capgemini Interview Questions 2026: Technical, HR and Process

If you are preparing for a Capgemini interview in India, start with Capgemini's own pages, not forum posts. Capgemini India publishes its recruitment process and interview tips, and both were checked for this guide in October 2026. Below you'll find what those pages say, followed by practice questions for each round with worked answers. The practice questions are illustrative. They are typical of IT services hiring, not a confirmed list of questions Capgemini asks.

Capgemini India's hiring stages, from the official pages

For experienced and general applications, Capgemini India describes this sequence:

  1. Application. You apply online with your CV. A cover letter is optional.
  2. Review. The team reviews your profile and may call you for a short clarification.
  3. HR screening. This happens by video or phone. "You may be required to complete proctored online technical and language assessments, where applicable."
  4. Technical interview. By video or in person. "Depending on the position, one or two technical interviews may be conducted." Video interviews may be recorded, and Capgemini says it asks for consent first.
  5. HR behavioural interview. This follows a successful technical evaluation.
  6. Documents and offer. You upload details to the candidate portal, the recruiter discusses compensation and benefits, and you accept the offer through the portal.
  7. Background verification and onboarding.

For freshers, the FAQ on the same page lists the typical placement stages:

StageWhat Capgemini says it assesses
Online aptitude testLogical reasoning, verbal ability and quantitative skills
Coding or technical assessmentProgramming knowledge and problem-solving
Group discussion (for select roles only)Communication, teamwork and analytical thinking
Technical interviewDomain knowledge and practical application
HR interviewBehaviour, career aspirations and company fit

The interview tips page adds that the number of rounds and the assessment types vary with your experience level and the role. The overall timeline "typically takes a few weeks", but it varies by role.

Official channels and the fee warning

Capgemini India says all interview communication comes through its official ATS/CRM system, with Microsoft Teams invites for virtual interviews, and that it "does not use any other platforms for conducting interviews." It does not charge fees at any stage. Interview or offer messages from personal email addresses are not valid and should be reported to the Interview Helpdesk at [email protected]. If you are applying through campus placement, route questions through your college placement cell.

Aptitude practice: a worked example

Practice question: A can finish a task in 12 days and B in 18 days. Working together, how long will they take?

  • A's rate = 1/12 of the task per day; B's rate = 1/18.
  • Combined rate = 1/12 + 1/18 = 3/36 + 2/36 = 5/36 of the task per day.
  • Time = 36/5 = 7.2 days.

Write the rates down as fractions. Don't guess between options. For more practice, time yourself on percentages, ratios, time-speed-distance, and simple and compound interest, plus reading-comprehension passages for the verbal section.

Coding and technical assessment practice

Practice question: Return the first character in a string that does not repeat, or None if every character repeats.

from collections import Counter

def first_unique_char(s: str):
    counts = Counter(s)
    for ch in s:
        if counts[ch] == 1:
            return ch
    return None

assert first_unique_char("capgemini") == "c"
assert first_unique_char("aabb") is None
assert first_unique_char("") is None

This solution runs in O(n) time with two passes. In an interview, say why you count first and then scan: scanning alone would need nested loops and O(n²) time.

SQL practice: find email addresses that appear more than once in a candidates table.

SELECT email, COUNT(*) AS occurrences
FROM candidates
GROUP BY email
HAVING COUNT(*) > 1;

Be ready to explain why the condition goes in HAVING and not WHERE: WHERE filters rows before grouping, and HAVING filters groups after aggregation.

Technical interview practice questions

Practice questionWhat a complete answer covers
Array vs linked list: when would you choose each?Index access cost versus insertion and deletion cost, plus memory layout
Explain polymorphism with code you wroteOverloading versus overriding, with one real class from your project
What happens when you type a URL in a browser?DNS lookup, TCP/TLS connection, HTTP request and response, rendering; go as deep as asked
Explain INNER JOIN vs LEFT JOIN with an exampleWhich rows survive when there's no match, and why that matters for counts
Walk me through your best projectYour role, architecture, one hard bug, how you tested, what you'd improve
For experienced roles: describe a production issue you resolvedDetection, diagnosis, fix, prevention, and what you changed in the process

HR interview: use Capgemini's values honestly

Capgemini's interview tips suggest you "tell your story", share achievements, challenges and lessons, research the role, and learn about the company's values and culture. Capgemini lists seven values: Honesty, Boldness, Trust, Freedom, Fun, Modesty and Team Spirit.

Don't recite them. Match one or two to a real story instead. The pairings below are illustrative:

ValueA story that could show itPractice question it helps with
HonestyTelling a guide you'd misread a requirement, then fixing it"Tell me about a mistake you made"
BoldnessProposing a new tool for your team project and taking the risk of learning it"Describe a time you took initiative"
Team SpiritCovering a teammate's module during exams and sharing credit"How do you work in a team?"
ModestyAsking a junior for help with a technology they knew better"How do you handle not knowing something?"

Other HR questions to rehearse: "Tell me about yourself", "Why Capgemini?", "Are you open to relocation or shifts?" (answer honestly, based on the job posting), and "Where do you see yourself in a few years?" Our guide to common HR interview questions in India has answer frameworks for each.

Group discussion tips (where it applies)

Capgemini says a group discussion is used for select roles only, and that it assesses communication, teamwork and analytical thinking. Practise with friends using a timer:

  • Open with a clear, short definition of the topic if no one has.
  • Add one point backed by a concrete example, then invite a quieter member in.
  • Summarise the discussion fairly if there's a chance at the end.
  • Avoid interrupting or repeating others' points louder.

Interview-day checklist for Teams interviews

  • Join from the Teams link in your official invite only. Test your camera, microphone and connection 15 minutes early.
  • Keep your CV, the job description and two questions for the interviewer in front of you.
  • Expect to be asked for recording consent before a video interview, as Capgemini's page describes.
  • Afterwards, track your status in the candidate application login rather than chasing individual recruiters.

Key takeaways

  • Freshers typically face aptitude, a coding or technical assessment, a technical interview and an HR interview. A group discussion is added only for select roles.
  • Experienced candidates go through HR screening, one or two technical interviews and an HR behavioural interview.
  • Every genuine invite comes through Capgemini's official system with a Teams link, and no stage involves a fee.
  • Prepare worked aptitude methods, two or three coding patterns, and value-linked stories you can tell honestly.
