The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Roorkee has announced a project-based job opening for a Junior Research Fellow (JRF) in the Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering. The position is part of the ISRO-funded research project titled 'SkyL-ARC: Development of Long Range joint Ranging and Communication for UAVs', led by Dr. Bodhibrata Mukhopadhyay. The selected candidate will be responsible for designing and developing ranging and communication solutions for UAV systems. Key responsibilities include PCB design and fabrication, embedded programming using platforms like ESP32, nRF, and STM32, implementation of serial communication protocols (SPI, I2C, UART, CAN), and software stack development using ESP-IDF, Python, and MATLAB. The initial appointment is for one year, extendable by another year based on performance. The monthly salary is ₹37,000 plus 10% HRA. Eligible candidates must have an M.E./M.Tech. in EC/CSE/EE or equivalent with a CGPA of 6.0 or higher, or a B.E./B.Tech. in ECE/CS/IT or equivalent with a CGPA of 7.5 or higher, or an MSc in Electronics/Physics with similar CGPA. Candidates must also have qualified a national-level test like GATE/NET or hold a degree from a CFTI. Preference will be given to SC/ST candidates with equal qualifications. Shortlisted candidates will appear for an online interview on February 28, 2026, at 10:00 AM. Applications sent via email will not be considered.
