The Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities, under the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, aims to facilitate the empowerment of persons with disabilities in India. According to the 2016 Rights of Persons with Disabilities (RPwD) Act, there are 21 recognized types of disabilities including locomotor, visual, hearing, speech and language, intellectual, multiple disabilities, cerebral palsy, and dwarfism. The department serves a population of 2.68 crore persons with disabilities, which constitutes 2.21% of the country's total population as per the 2011 Census. This job notification is part of ongoing efforts to strengthen programs and services for this community.
