Engagement of Deputy Chief Legal Aid Defense Counsel on Contract Basis

The District Legal Services Authority (DLSA), West Godavari, Eluru, has issued a notification for the engagement of one Deputy Chief Legal Aid Defense Counsel on a full-time contract basis for an initial period of two years, extendable annually based on performance. The selected candidate will be responsible for providing comprehensive legal aid in criminal matters across all stages—from pre-arrest to trial and appeals—ensuring timely and quality legal services to underprivileged sections of society. The role includes representation in Sessions, Special, and Magistrate Courts, handling bail and remand applications, prison visits, legal research, mentoring junior counselors and law students, and maintaining case files. The monthly honorarium is ₹45,000. Candidates must have at least 7 years of practice in criminal law, proven experience in handling a minimum of 20 criminal trials in Sessions Courts (relaxable in exceptional cases), strong communication and legal research skills, and proficiency in IT. The applicant must not engage in private practice during the tenure. Applications must be submitted along with self-attested documents, copies of five judgments, and five cross-examinations from Sessions cases by 03-03-2025, 5:00 PM, to the Secretary, DLSA, Eluru.
