Religious fervour peaks as Sammakka is brought down from Chilakalagutta hillock at Medaram

The annual Medaram tribal festival, one of the largest in India, saw devotees gather to witness the procession of the tribal deity Sammakka being brought down from the Chilakalagutta hillock. The Mulugu Superintendent of Police fired a few rounds from an AK-47 rifle as a mark of respect, a long-standing tradition since 1996. This event highlights the religious and cultural significance of the festival for the tribal communities in the region.
