Govt said to accept tweaks to Securities Markets Code draft

The Indian government has made significant amendments to the proposed Securities Markets Code, extending investigation timelines to one year and empowering depositories to correct records. Additionally, the Centre's authority to supersede boards of market infrastructure institutions will now require a recommendation from the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI). These changes, made after stakeholder consultations, aim to enhance market regulation and investor protection.
