Expert panel set up to formulate SOP to govern entry of zoo staff into animal enclosures, Central Zoo Authority tells Karnataka High Court

The Central Zoo Authority has established an expert panel to create standard operating procedures (SOPs) for the entry of zoo staff into animal enclosures. This decision follows a petition in the Karnataka High Court that highlighted 17 incidents of animal attacks in zoological parks across India over the past decade, with seven incidents occurring in Karnataka alone. The formulation of SOPs aims to enhance safety protocols and reduce the risk of such incidents in the future, making it a significant step towards animal and staff safety in zoos.
